Half Day Township Visit With Uthando

Half Day Township Visit With Uthando

Monday to Saturday 08h30 to 13h00

With plenty of fine beaches, rolling vineyards, gourmet restaurants, ocean vistas, and breathtaking Table Mountain towering above it all, Cape Town is a picture-perfect panorama everywhere you look. What you would have missed though, is getting a living and breathing sense of Cape Town’s local history, vibrant culture, and hopeful future which you’ll find at the heart of the townships. The settlements where the black population was confined until the end of apartheid 20 years ago. While there are many township tours advertised, the unique philanthropic tours organized by non-profit organization Uthando offer the most well-rounded and uplifting experience by far. Instead of driving by on a tour bus, eyes glued to the windows gawping at the passing makeshift shafts, you’ll visit some of the community projects Uthando support, and meet the most inspiring locals.

Cape Town - Full Day White Shark Cage Dive

Cape Town – Full Day White Shark Cage Dive

Tour duration 9 Hours

You will be advised on the day before the dive at what time the hotel collection will be for the transfer to Gansbaai – this is done once weather conditions are known and the dive is confirmed by the operator (Marine Dynamics) – this can be as early as 05h00.

The distance to Gansbaai is 170 km and the transfer will take around 2 Hours per way.

Once in Gansbaai, a safety briefing is held and snacks are enjoyed.
Before the boat launch, all guests are fitted with comfortable inflatable life-jackets which must be worn while travelling to and from the anchor site. Safety is of the utmost importance. As it can get quite chilly on the boat, guests are also provided with water/windproof jackets in varied sizes (from small to extra-large) if they did not bring their own. A kit containing squeaky clean diving gear for each diver is pre-packed before we set off on foot to the slipway. This includes a wetsuit, hoodie, as well as a clean towel. Masks, booties and weight belts are supplied to you before entering the cage.

Since we provide light meals, snacks and drinks on board, guests need only bring their cameras, sunscreen and a hat/cap for sun protection . . . and put on a happy face! The rest is up to us to treat you to an unforgettable experience! Our expert videographer will ensure you have memorable footage (and proof!) of the trip to share back home with friends and family.

Services can change slightly depending on which supplier is used for the Shark Dive.

We highly recommend guests who are prone to any kind of motion sickness (or are unsure if they are) to use anti-nausea medication well in advance. Better to be prepared!

Late afternoon return to the Hotel

Hike Table Mountain

Hike Table Mountain

Total hiking time: 5-6 hours hiking

This excursion requires an appropriate level of fitness.
Different Hikes are available – as an example !
Kasteelspoort Ravine to the Cableway – This all-encompassing route of Table Mountain starts on the jeep track from the stunning Camps Bay or 12 Apostles side of Table Mountain. It connects to the historical Pipe Track and heads up Kasteelspoort which is a steady climb up a beautiful, open ravine with massive buttresses flanking its sides. Halfway up the ravine, take a break at ‘Breakfast Rock’. This is a great photo spot with a backdrop of Lions Head, Robben Island and the Atlantic Ocean below. Once at the top of Kasteelspoort Ravine, take a moment to check out the remnants of the historical Old Cableway dating back to the late 1800s. Here there is an opportunity for the brave to go out onto ‘Diving Board Rock’ for the incredible photo to show others back home the adventure you’ve been on. From the Old Cableway, the path leads you toward Valley of the Red Gods & into the Valley of Isolation which has interesting rock formations creating a bowl-like valley. Then, you’ll have a 15-20-minute descent into Echo Valley and then up 3 ladders (these ladders are normal size and are bolted into the rock) to the backside of the Cableway area. From here, the views overlooking Camps Bay where you started your hike & the City of Cape Town below are not to be missed. You can check from here how far you’ve come as you’ll be able to see your starting point from this vantage point. Once at the top of Table Mountain, the descent is via the Cableway (weather permitting), then your guide will taxi everyone back to the vehicle at the starting point and transfer you back to your hotel.

Total hiking time: 5-6 hours hiking

Please note: The Cableway is weather permitting. If the cableway is closed due to high wind we will take Platteklip Gorge down which adds 2-3 hours of hiking. There is a R200 per person extra fee to hike down and this is payable to the guide on the day in cash. If your guide thinks the cableway will be closed that day, they will avoid walking all the way there (as you would then have to walk down 2-3 hours more after your 5-6 hour hike-unless you want to do this). Your guide will discuss with you an alternate circular route back down after the hike (this option is +/-5 hours round trip).

Includes – Cable Car ticket, snacks& water, Hotel pick up / drop off within the CBD or Atlantic Seaboard

Our supplier reserves the right to postpone hikes and/or refund in full at their discretion if any hikes are canceled due to unsafe hiking conditions or very poor weather. Standard hikes are shared with up to 6 hikers at a time and are not private unless requested as such upon confirmation. If you confirm food add-ons please advise if any dietary requirements need to be considered. Please mention upon confirmation if any special occasions are being celebrated

Helicopter Flights Over The City And Surrounds

Helicopter Flights Over The City And Surrounds

There are many options available from a quick 10-minute scenic flight along the Atlantic Coast viewing famous spots like the Cape Town Stadium, the 4 Beaches of Clifton, Camps Bay and the Twelve Apostles. Swing around Karbonkelberg and return to the V&A Waterfront.

Our recommendation is the slightly longer ‘Atlantico’ bringing in the Two Oceans – You take off from the V&A Waterfront & enjoy a scenic flight along the Atlantic Coast over to False Bay, passing Fish Hoek to Muizenberg.

There are also flight options to visit Cape Point and the wine-lands

NOTE – other passengers may be added to your flight unless you book an exclusive flight.
